Job Purpose:

If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference in the life of a child, Project Harmony is looking for you.  We are seeking an experienced and committed Business Intelligence Developer to join our dynamic and innovative organization.

The Business Intelligence Developer will work closely with the organization to understand the functional needs of system users and translate those needs into system requirements and design for data reporting at Project Harmony.  As a member of the Quality Improvement team, the individual will work closely with key stakeholders to implement solutions, converting data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.  It is essential that the Business Intelligence Developer build an understanding of the organization at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical data issues.  It is essential that they provide data that is accurate, congruent and reliable, meets the Quality Improvement team standards and ensures the information is easily available to users for direct consumption.  Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) is currently the primary system served by this position.

The Business Intelligence Developer will work jointly with the Senior Director of Quality Improvement, Director of IT, Data Support Specialist and IT Application Support Specialist.  The Business Intelligence Developer will be instrumental in information gathering, structured documentation and presentation of findings in an easily consumable format across the organization.  They must work well within a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with, and actively participate in, routine discussions with Project Harmony Program Managers to understand organization objectives, identify options, recommendations and reporting solutions to meet these objectives.
  • Understand complex business requirements and translate into technical specifications.
  • Direct the implementation of a consistent business intelligence strategy including regular reporting of Key Performance Indices (KPIs).
  • Assist in the development and validation of all reporting.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of data and structure of the Reporting & Analytics Environment, including the monitoring of Doing Business As (DBA) activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality and information distribution standards and processes.
  • Develop effective Business Intelligence designs based on business needs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of data quality and data usage standards.
  • Keep documentation (e.g., file layouts, data dictionaries, business rules, metadata, data models, schemas, data flow charts) inventoried, up-to-date and available for use.
  • Ensure culturally competent services are provided to all families we serve without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a field related to business systems management preferred. Relation to public services field(s) preferred.
  • Experience with configuration/administration of case and client management software required.
  • Experience with Business Objects required.
  • Experience with building reports using industry standard tools required.
  • Experience with configuration of content management software, such as SharePoint, a plus.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong analytical, process design, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, establishing strategic objectives, project plans and milestone goals.
  • Ability to connect Enterprise Strategic Initiatives to Performance Indicators through executive/management interviews and original research.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence reporting tools, and data visualization tools (Business Objects, and Power BI).
  • Ability to engage directly with a very wide of stakeholders in mission, operations, management, oversight and development roles, as needed.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong technical writing and written/verbal/listening communication skills.
  • Team and solution oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state.
