As a Loss Control Specialist, you understand and are ready to help our clients develop policies, procedures and programs designed with their unique needs in mind. In this role, you’ll be a key partner to our agents as we meet with our clients to help navigate the world of state and federal safety regulations, OSHA and worker’s compensation.


Inside office work in a professional environment for approximately 25% of work time; travel and consulting at client job sites for approximately 75% of time.

What's the work like?

You will...

  • Identify and analyze problem areas by conducting loss and safety audits for client companies to determine the source and cause of losses

  • Formulate and recommend alternatives to reduce the frequency, severity and liability

  • Develop approaches for implementation of recommended policies, procedures, and/or programs

  • Coordinate carrier loss control services with client companies

  • Develop service and action plans by establishing goals and objectives for client companies to improve their operating efficiency and overall risk management environment

  • Compose and produce reports, documents, and other written material for management and producers, communicating the loss control programs formulated for client companies

  • Monitor and evaluate reports and loss runs to determine program effectiveness

  • Coordinate loss services with other agency services, such as claims and customer service, to maximize the service impact for client retention

  • Conduct appropriate follow-up with client companies to service accounts

  • Interpret, clarify, and explain applicable federal, state and local occupational safety requirements to co-workers and client companies, including formal training programs

  • Maintain, develop, and pursue technical knowledge through newsletters, bulletins, seminars, trade publications or other educational opportunities

  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of highly sensitive information, including Protected Health Information (PHI)




What do I need to know?

You have to have...

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong planning, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and electronic mail system (Outlook)

  • Proficiency in workers' compensation costs, specifically able to perform mod master and calculate workers' compensation experience mods

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards

  • Knowledge of state and local regulations related to occupational safety

  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Company employees and external contacts


We'd like it if you have....

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) years of loss control experience
  • Certified Safety Professional designation
  • OSHA certification (e.g., Certified Trainer)
