Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement     

Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.


Job Summary/Primary Purpose:   Instructors are needed for Zumba Gold, Silver Sneakers, Boxing, Kickboxing, TRX (youth & adults), Cycling, Yoga, and Youth Exercise.  Teach safe and effective multi-level fitness and/or aerobic exercise classes to the members and guests of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, the public, employees of The Salvation Army and Kroc Center, business and industry.


WORK SCHEDULE:  Part-time hours may include the following days/times:  Early morning, mid-morning, evening, and Saturday/Sunday.  

  1. Teach appropriate and safe general fitness and/or aerobics classes and/or small group personal training to Kroc Center members, guests and employees.
  2. Assist in keeping statistical information, class attendance and preparing evaluations as required.
  3. Assist in developing cooperative ventures that engage corporations, civic groups, churches, and community groups in the development of programs related specifically to the Health & Fitness Department.
  4. Maintain a safe work environment. Report all facility issues to the Health & Fitness Assistant and/or Manager.
  5. Maintain and report damaged equipment and properly maintain classroom structure and cleanliness.
  6. Attend all required department and facility meetings and training as assigned.
  7. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army and Kroc Center policies and procedures.
  8. The work schedule varies and includes evenings and weekends with possible holiday hours.
  9. All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).  Some related experience teaching general fitness classes and/or personal training for individuals or small groups is preferred.


Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.


  1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  2. Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. 
  3. General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  4. Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  5. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • National Accredited Certification such as but not limited to Aerobics and Fitness Association (AFAA), American Council on Exercise (ACE) or hold a specific certification in the class being taught; for example, Zumba, AFAA Personal Trainer, or TurboKick
  • Requires CPR training and bi-yearly renewal. 
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

This position requires the ability to see, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel.  It also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.


Must be in good physical/mental health and capable of meeting the demand of programming.  This position requires the incumbent to spend a large percentage of the workday standing, walking, climbing stairs, etc.


 Working Conditions:  The position is exposed to indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year.  The noise level is moderate from operating fitness equipment and loud in class settings.
