SUMMARY:  Coordinate all services of corps Social Services office, including seasonal services, in coordination with the Corps Officer(s)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other similar and related duties may be assigned.

  1. Direct client services.
  1. Intake all clients requesting services, by phone or in person.
  2. Maintain appointment book for all requests for service.
  3. Determine need and provide emergency material assistance and/or referral, if applicable.
  4. Maintain database for Food Pantry clearinghouse.
  5. Maintain case files with case notes and other documentation.
  6. Maintain case work data base with client information.
  7. Facilitate client grievance procedures.
  8. Supervise food pantry, including cleanliness, stocking of shelves and training of volunteers.
  9. Maintain food pantry inventory and report to Corps Officer for ordering.
  10. Facilitate Pathway of Hope/Community Response programs.
  1. Seasonal Services. 
    1. Christmas Sign Up /Distribution

            Responsible to acquire and oversee all volunteers for intake and distribution of services.

  1. Summer Fan Program
  2. Summer Lunch program-Supervise the food ordering and the recording of numbers of those served. Monthly reporting to DHQ for reimbursement of meals.
  1. Statistical Reporting - Complete the following reports:
    1. Month End reports
    2. National Statistical System report
    3. United Way Statistical report
    4. Food Bank Quarterly report
  1. Other Services
    1. Attend intra-agency meetings, i.e.  staff meetings, etc.
    2. Attend community meetings pertaining Social Services issues.
    3. Driving is an essential function of the position.
    4. Occasional pick-up of donations as needed

MARGINAL DUTIES include those functions that must be done but could be assigned to another staff member without significantly changing either employee's job.

  1. Participate in performance and quality improvement program.
  2. Assist with unloading donations, food pantry supplies, Toy donations and other deliveries.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Manage all volunteers in Social Services department.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Social Work or related field from four-year College or University, and five years related experience required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar software.  Basic computer knowledge needed to access time clock and personal information via a web-based system.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  None required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Must pass all applicable background checks.  Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.  Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.   This job can be labor intensive when assisting to unload trucks and move product.  During seasonal events, the employee is regularly required walk and stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
