Position Description Overview
The Product Manager is responsible for conception and management for First Data's application program interfaces (API) services, including product management, product development and business development. The APIs are built on industry standard RESTful architecture and critical to First Data's product strategy and go forward and support for client service integration. The APIs are a solution set that are built at the granular level for both data and service delivery off of our multiple platforms (North America, International). This individual will also oversee the management, marketing and dissemination of the Global Financial Services Developer Portal. The individual will be part of a New Product Development team charged with redefining the Global Financial Solution group's North America and Global solution set for financial institutions.
Scope of Job
PRODUCT MANAGEMENT: Manage, track and report product performance throughout its lifecycle including product strategy, product planning and issue prioritization. Coordinate product pricing and bundling decisions in concert with cross-functional teams. Coordinate internal product communication and information across product line.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: Define and articulate a long-term product strategy and roadmap with clearly defined business metrics and targets. Translate this roadmap into well-defined product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Communicate and build consensus across multiple departments in creating the product roadmap. Manage product development process inclusive of product commercialization tasks required to bring product to market. Lead peers and dotted line relationships through the project lifecycle to deliver development efforts. Establish and maintain awareness and understanding of customer and market needs.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Strong client / partner relationships and problem solving skills ability to work together with clients to solve key challenges. Be comfortable with white boarding the next big idea and understanding the underlying API services. Develop business cases to support new product recommendations. Manage issues throughout the product development process including problem identification, root cause analysis, and stakeholder communication. Act as a primary negotiator between internal departments and clients to resolve issues. Work closely with Engineers to rapidly iterate new solutions. Consumer interface in the education and enrollment of customers into the new product programs
