Job Description



CardConnect is seeking a hands-on, solution-oriented Android Engineer to build and support the operation of our android applications. You will have the opportunity to own new features from day one, work on brand new app functionality due to strategic partnerships, contribute to the design process, and build an all-around app experience.


Job Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing advanced applications for the Android platform
  • Build properly structured, well commented solutions for complex integrations and problems
  • Lead the effort to build out applications, libraries, and services on android devices to integrate point of sale systems with card readers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Design and develop apps that are built for change (not necessarily built to last)
  • Provide input to and execute usability engineering standards and best practices
  • Ensure all software architecture design specifications can be traced to higher level deliverables and detailed software modules

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience of Java development experience (2+ with native android applications)
  • Strong understanding of core Android concepts and the entire Android SDK
  • Experience publishing applications to the Android app store (such as Google Play or Amazon) 
  • Understand major UI software architecture patterns, with hands-on development and specialization in mobile apps, data visualization, and mobile web apps.
  • Experience with interfacing with RESTful services and consuming JSON
  • BS/BA Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred


  • Experience with usability engineering, leading design techniques, and UI mockup tools to properly leveraging responsive, adaptive, and statically designed UI's effectively
  • Experience with data security, encryption handling, compliance, data privacy and laws
