Risk and Controls Analyst Position Description Overview


This Risk & Controls Analyst position supports applicable business units by managing risk processes, projects, or programs. This position performs in-depth and more complex research, fact gathering and analysis. The Analyst will be routinely involved in addressing risk, licensing, business and reporting matters. The position has a key and substantial role in managing internal document production in response to examinations by business unit regulatory authorities. The Analyst should have the ability to independently assess routine as well as non-routine business unit issues and determine if and when to escalate to management, the appropriate legal counsel and/or business unit personnel. Finally, the Analyst will identify, research, analyze and write business requirements to ensure client and market needs are met. This includes working closely with clients and internal departments to clearly understand and address business problems and issues. Responsible for delivery of projects. This includes completion and approval of testing, user documentation, and blended learning plans.


Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and mitigate risk for the business unit on a day-to-day basis
  • Support governance reporting
  • Support Third-Party Vendor Risk Management
  • Establish and manage internal controls (measures) and quality assurance
  • Support Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs)
  • Design, implement, and maintain controls
  • Develop and manage standards, guidelines, processes and procedures
  • Train personnel for business unit-specific operational and compliance procedures

Job Requirements 

  • 3-5 years' experience in risk and control related positions, internal audit departments, quality control and/or quality assurance or financial controls groups as examples
  • Undergraduate degree preferred (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or Regulatory Compliance) or related experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience executing control audits, conducting walkthroughs and risk assessments, and testing controls in the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSAframeworks risk identification and control.
  • Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Regulation E.
