TITLE: Systems Engineer II
LOCATION: Omaha, Nebraska
DUTIES: Provide middleware production support in a production environment on an enterprise size network. Utilize IBM Websphere Application Server V5x/6x/6.1x/7.0/8.5 over UNIX servers including Sun Solaris, AIX, Linux Servers, and Windows to configure, install, administer and troubleshoot. Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot on all versions of JBoss, Tomcat, Splunk, appDynamis, Weblogic, Oracle Application Server (OAS), Apache, IHS, and IIS to provide fix action on production environment. Troubleshoot application server related issues. Deploy J2EE Applications. Install, maintain, fix upgrades, troubleshoot, and performance tune Websphere Application server (V5.x/6.x/v6.1/7.x) on multiplatform (Solaris, AIX, ZOS, Linux, RHEL, and Windows) environment. Utilize distributed operating systems, subsystems, and software vendor products. Utilize various monitoring tools including Uptime, Opsware, Optier, AppDynamics, Splunk, eHealth, and Netscout. Lead technical issues and drive those issues to resolution. Implement techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs including present and future capacity requirements. Utilize JBoss/Tomcat on troubleshooting application server related issues. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Interact with IT staff or vendors in performing complex test, support and troubleshoot functions. Provide system wide cross-functional troubleshooting support. Responsible for performance tuning using Tivoli Performance viewer and by setting various parameters in application server. Assist application team to find the root cause on issues. Support and troubleshoot using log files, log analyzer, traces and with mustgather. Support UNIX Shell scripts as per business needs. Utilize JACL scripts to automate common tasks such as deployments of applications, configurations, and backups. Responsible for IBM on problem determination, troubleshooting, and resolution. Support various monitoring tools to troubleshoot the Java applications. Install, configure, and manage Network Deployment Manager (ND) 5.0/5.1/6.0/6.1/7.0. Work on migration of WAS 7.1 to 8.5 in development environments. Implement Workload Management (WLM) using clustering technique including horizontal and Vertical Clustering for failover and backup/recovery processes. Create websphere cells, horizontal and vertical clusters, and cluster members to develop a fault-tolerant, scalable, and highly available Websphere environment. Configure plug-in on http server and set-up timeout values according to the applications.
REQTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering (any) or a related field plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the position offered, as a Senior Engineer Application Manager, or a related position. Must have five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with: middleware production support in a production environment on an enterprise size network; distributed or mainframe operating systems, subsystems, and software vendor products; system wide cross-functional troubleshooting support; Websphere; JBoss; Tomcat; IHS; and Apache. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the position offered or related position. Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
