Manager, Rural Development – Pottawattamie County

The Chamber is seeking a motivated, experienced economic development professional to facilitate the creation of jobs and capital investment opportunities for rural Pottawattamie County through Advance Southwest Iowa Corporation (ASWIC).  This position will be responsible for cultivating relationships with municipalities, businesses and key stakeholders in Pottawattamie County with the goal of enhancing the overall business environment and increasing the tax base.

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in economic development?                    

Are you:         

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Adobe and CRM platforms and software?
  • Able to operate audio visual equipment?
  • Experienced in the use of GIS software?
  • Able to coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines?
  • Detail oriented?
  • A great communicator – both in writing and written and oral?
  • A team player?
  • A strong marketer and negotiator?
  • Able to drive and/or provide your own transportation?

Are you interested in:

  • Working to promote the continued expansion and attraction of new businesses in rural Pottawattamie County by implementing a proactive outreach program where one-on-one assistance will be provided.  Assistance provided includes:  real estate options, access to local and state incentives, financing options, connections to utility partners for infrastructure improvements, connections to city and county officials for projects that require zoning and planning changes, connections to workforce programs and access to demographic information.
  • Providing outreach to all communities in rural Pottawattamie County including ongoing updates/presentations at City Council meetings.
  • Forming relationships with property/building owners in rural Pottawattamie County. 
  • Serving as lead project manager and the point of contact for new-to-market and expansion projects in rural Pottawattamie County.
  • Establishing and coordinating public relations and marketing programs to enhance recognition of the economic development efforts in rural Pottawattamie County.
  • Establishing collaborative working relationships by effectively communicating with investors, partners, community leaders and economic development allies.
  • Remaining aware of local and state issues/legislation that could impact business and industry.
  • Providing regular updates to investors and partners including presentations at Board, City Council and County Supervisor meetings.
  • Creating and maintaining a professional relationships with the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).
  • Actively utilize the CRM for tracking all activities.
