NOVA Treatment Community has part time positions for Family Support Worker and Supervised Visitation Specialist.  This position schedule is flexible and includes working weekdays, weekends and evenings. 

The Family Support Worker/ Supervised Visitation Specialist provides direct supervision services to children and their parents during scheduled visit times.  This includes, supervising and interacting with parents and program members during the visit and providing transportation as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Two years experience working with children and families preferred.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to discern discrepancies.
  • Ability to keep complete and accurate records.
  • Knowledge of the theories of early child growth and development.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Valid driver’s license three points or less and a driving record that meets agency insurance standards.
  • Have and maintain the minimum automobile liability and medical insurance coverage as required by law.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with foster children and families to provide a therapeutic environment that is conducive to a successful visit between the foster children and parents.
  • Coordinate times, locations and dates of supervised visits.
  • Provide transportation when necessary to and from visits.
  • Supervise and interact with members during visits.
  • Provide written documentation to report events and conversations at visits.
  • Be on time for visits and transportation.
  • Attend family team meetings and actively participate with the family team.
  • Supervise and teach skills to members during visits.
  • Provide introduction of parent-directed activities including daily-living activities such as curfew, consequences, and chores.
