Technology Development Manager

Job Description

This position is responsible for the management of a small to medium sized work unit within the overall Information Technology department. Interacting with direct reports, customers, functional peer group managers and senior executives on occasion. Typically have exempt staff, lower level managers or team leads as direct reports. Assist in the development and administration of budget.
Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data require an evaluation of numerous factors and has direct impact on bank objectives.
Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs, staff, and delays in overall schedules.
Implements and maintains policies, goals, and processes that support the organization's IT needs.
Consults with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into project objectives.
Demonstrate leadership abilities to business units by engaging the business, understanding their needs, and providing processes, applications support, and best practices to create operational efficiencies.
Ensures systems uptime and optimal performance. Manages the administration of selected applications.
Provide a software development plan that meets the future needs of our clients and markets, based on state-of-the-art technologies.
Ensures proper functioning of the information processing system and oversees necessary deployment of software upgrades, coordinating and managing enhancements and fixes that are based on release schedules, as well as off-schedule emergency deployments.
Helps business operations groups utilize information systems to improve their operational effectiveness.
Manage negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
Manage the day to day activities of the team including time off approvals, performance reviews, fostering a positive working environment and provide training and mentoring to team members.
Maintain expertise in the applications used within the bank.
Maintain expertise in the business processes that drive the applications used within the bank.
5+ years of financial services industry experience
6+ years managing technology staff
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
Must be a well-rounded technologist with a broad understanding of various technologies, tools, and development methodologies.
Demonstrated communications skills - both written and verbal. Be able to effectively communicate with senior technology and business executives.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Must have strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
Effectively manage conflicting priorities. Must be results oriented.
Proven ability to deliver on high priority business goals. Should be able to work with minimum direction from senior management and provide direction/mentoring to junior resources in the team.
