Financial Service Specialist (Personal Banker/New Accounts/Teller)

Hiring Bonus - $500 paid at 6 months of employment

Role:

Provide excellent First Standards service at all times. Open new accounts (to include savings, checking, etc.), verify and process alterations to existing accounts, sell other credit union services, answer member questions, and resolve related account problems. Process member transactions on the teller station or at the drive-through. The position requires a thorough knowledge of all types of account ownership, account classifications, as well as a broad knowledge of all credit union services.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provide the following services for members in person, by telephone, or by mail; Process deposits, loan payments and disburse cash or check withdrawals. Complete transfers between accounts when requested. Provide travel/gift cards, counter checks, Visa cash advances. Submit payroll change distribution forms. Complete address changes, filing, processing mail and assisting employees in other departments as needed.
  • Interview members to obtain information and to explain available financial services, such as savings and checking Accounts, Process a variety of transactions for members including the opening and closing of accounts, answering questions, and researching the best choices for the members. Respond to member inquiries regarding the operation of accounts, access to services, adding and reducing service features on various accounts and assisting members to make the most effective usage of service offerings. Resolve problems that are within their authority level.
  • Proactively cross-sell all products and services. Participate in sales development activities to increase value and member loyalty in order to help achieve credit union goals. Must have good product knowledge of all services offered.
  • Assist with other branch responsibilities, such as but not limited to; ITM/ATM, Cash Dispenser/Recycler & vault cash loads and audits, check deposits, cash orders, branch and teller reports, supplies, and branch cleanliness.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

One to three years of similar or related experience.

Education

A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills

Able to operate a ten-key calculator, typewriter, and computer keyboard.
