PRIMARY FUNCTION: Incumbent works under the direction of the Purchasing Agent, General Services Supervisor or designee performing a variety of highly skilled mechanical repairs/maintenance on County vehicles and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Six (6) years of experience as a heavy duty truck/equipment mechanic required.* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout employment. Must supply and maintain own tools (list available upon request). Tools must be organized and stored in a mobile, free standing tool chest. A valid Class B CDL must be obtained within six (6) months of appointment. The CDL licensing can be completed using Douglas County equipment. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in Medium/Heavy Truck preferred. Must complete air conditioning certification within six (6) months of hire/promotion and maintain throughout employment. Completion of a pre-employment records check and post offer drug screen, and physical assessment required. *Approved training/education in heavy diesel repair and service may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience requirement.
