This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Before & After School Team ensures a safe and fun environment for all participants while providing great communication to family members.
-Works under the direct supervision of the Program Director and is responsible for the direct care, supervision and well being of all enrolled in the âBefore & After School Programâ.
-Executes activities for all enrolled children, implementing age appropriate activities.
-Monitors classroom area to ensure the safety and well being of all participants, providing a positive environment while actively encouraging participation to ensure growth and development.
-Ensures facility is neat, clean, orderly and free of all safety impediments.
-Exemplifies and maintains appropriate behavior at all times for participants, actively listens to all children and shows patience, understanding and respect for others.
-Develops and fosters interpersonal relationships between participants and actively creates an environment of cooperation and friendliness toward others.
-Records daily attendance and maintains accurate and complete records.
-Ensures all supplies are well maintained and readily available.
-Accomplishes other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
-Must possess the experience and educational background suitable for the position.
-Previous experience working with children a must, preferably in a childcare center.
-High School diploma or GED required, must be at least 19 years of age.
-Individual must possess the ability to work with children ages 4-12 years of age, along with the ability to work independently.
-Attention to detail and customer service skills a must.
-Must be able to perform duties in pool area ensuring safety and well being of all participants. Will be required to get into water and participate in water activities with children.
-Must develop and maintain commitment to the mission of the YMCA, along with possessing sound judgment, maturity, and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
-On-site attendance is required of this position.
