Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Teen Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing and implementing high quality YMCA Leaders Club and Teen Night Programs at multiple locations in the Omaha area, in order to maintain a large and active Teen program base. 

Responsibilities

  1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff to achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  3. Recruits teens.
  4. Develops and delivers teen programming and activities.
  5. Develops and distributes teen program schedule, guidelines and handbooks.

 

  1. Assists in developing and monitoring program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  2. Purchases required supplies and services for the program.
  3. Assists in marketing and distributing of program information.
  4. Responds to all member and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
  5. Compiles program statistics and submits reports. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of participation in the program.
  6. All other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  2. Experience working with teens preferred.
  3. Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; CPR; First Aid (provided by YMCA)
  4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.

  • Office/recreational environment. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking are required.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise staff team.
  • Hours will include evening and weekend work.
  • Travel among local branches may be required. Travel outside of Omaha, NE may be required.
  • Reliable transportation required.
