Description

The primary responsibility of the Payroll Supervisor, under the general direction from the Corporate Controller, is to oversee payroll administration.  The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing objectives, including relationships with external auditors and state and federal agencies.  The majority of the employee’s time is spent planning, coordinating and managing the functions of the payroll department.  This position requires an extremely detail oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.  Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.

Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Payroll Administration and Oversight

  • Supervises all activities necessary to process payroll.
  • Represent Payroll as key contact with vendor, UltiPro, regarding Payroll applications.
  • Ensure payroll updates are timely for compliance.
  • Responsible for tracking deductions, leaves, and payments due from employee paychecks.
  • Oversees and conducts interpretation and setup of garnishment orders.

Customer Service

  • Research and resolve any employee issues with paychecks.
  • Responsible for coordination efforts between Payroll and Human Resources.

Reporting

  • Assist with quarterly and year end reports.
  • Provide payroll information to Finance for budgeting.
  • Create Business Intelligence reports as needed.

Other

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education-

 

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Equivalent years of education and experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience-

  • Four (4) years of experience in payroll is required.  Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting is desirable.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience is required.
  • Equivalent years of education and experience may substitute for experience requirement.

Other Requirements –

 

  • Experience processing payroll with shift differentials, garnishments, and retirement plans.
  • Payroll software certification desired.

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-

 

  • Knowledge of payroll principles and practices.
  • Skilled in time and attendance electronic system.
  • Knowledge of payroll in a 24/7 environment.
  • Knowledge of Section 125 benefits.
  • Skilled in data and information management.
  • Strong mathematical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    Skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated an automated payroll accounting system.
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
    Ability to work collaboratively with individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to utilize effective problem solving and judgement skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing or verbally.

Education-
