Immanuel is the parent company to Immanuel Communities, Immanuel Pathways and AgeWell by Immanuel.  Immanuel owns and operates ten independent and assisted living, memory support and long-term care retirement communities on six campuses in Omaha, Papillion and Lincoln, Nebraska and the Immanuel Pathways PACE Centers in Council Bluffs and Des Moines in Iowa and Omaha Nebraska.

Purpose of the Position:  The role of the Medication Aide is to provide Christ-centered service in resident care and support according to the goal of Immanuel.  The successful person in this role will have a passion for serving seniors with compassion, dignity and respect.  The person in this role must work best in a team environment where the resident needs are always a priority.

Characteristics of the successful person in this position include being able to develop a relationship of trust with residents and co-workers, able to communicate timely and effectively and follow policy and procedures.

This position is primarily responsible for specified shifts according to the FTE status and the schedule that is posted.  The employee in this position is responsible to work the shifts they are assigned.

Key Functions for which this position is responsible

75%

Provide resident assistance in personal care, health maintenance and daily activities of living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, transfers, ambulation, toileting and serving of meals and laundry.  Providing assistance to and from activities, appointments in accordance with resident service agreement and encouraging as much independence as appropriate for each individual with compassion, dignity and respect.  Provide medication as requested by the resident and in accordance with Nebraska regulations governing the provision of medications by the Medication Aide-40 hour certification.

Provide accurate reporting/monitoring and documentation using established procedures, policies and standards of Immanuel and State guidelines including but not limited to: vital signs, weight, behavior and mobility.  This includes documentation of resident incidents, accidents, emergencies or unusual behavior.  Complete administrative duties required or as requested such as documentation, faxing, etc.

Maintain a safe and clean environment.  Follow procedures for proper equipment use, infection control, disaster plans, etc. as per policy and regulatory guidelines.

Maintain registry requirements as determined by the medication act and Nebraska Assisted Living Regulations including education hours, in-services, and/or reporting.

Nature and scope of the Position:  This is a support position within the assisted living unit of the retirement community.  The position provides immediate and close care of the resident in the Assisted Living community and responds to emergency calls within the Independent Living unit of the retirement community.  Work methods and procedures are nearly always well defined and specific to the work activity where regulatory guidelines are involved.  Non-regulated work methods allow some flexibility based on established procedure.  Work receives direct supervision; supervisor reviews for procedural conformance.

Education and Experience:  High school graduate or equivalent is required.  Minimum 18 years of age according to state regulation and current Medication Aide 40 Hour on the Medication Aide Registry is required.  Nurse Aide Registry is preferred.  1-2 years of general and related work experience is desired.  Certified as a First Responder in CPR/AED and First Aid by national standards or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
