Powerline Program Instructor
Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Powerline Program Instructor at the Alliance, Nebraska Campus. This faculty position provides competitive pay and excellent benefits.
Responsibilities: Instruct Powerline Construction and Maintenance Technology college curriculum based on Merchant Job Safety and Training Program. Position is located at the WNCC Alliance Campus. Duties include instruction, curriculum development, course scheduling; lab and equipment maintenance, ordering of supplies and equipment; student recruitment, advising, placement, and other program management duties. Student recruitment is an expectation.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in Distribution/Transmission construction and maintenance; Distribution-only experience would be considered; excellent working knowledge of appropriate OSHA safety standards and Rural Utility Services (RUS) specifications, plus experience in teaching these concepts and skills to potential linemen. This position includes instruction in the following areas: climb and perform work on utility structures; connect transformers; metering both single and three-phase; hot sticking; underground installation; trouble shooting; and switching.
Minimum degree and experience: Bachelor's Degree and two years industry experience or Associates Degree with five years industry experience or no degree and 10 years’ experience plus relevant industry credential(s).
Preference will be given to individuals who have journey level lineworker status, familiarity with the Merchant Job Training and Safety curriculum; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), overhead and underground knowledge, earned academic degrees or diplomas, and demonstrated formal or informal teaching experience.
Salary: Salary begins at $60,000 for a 220-day contract, with increases to starting salary given for additional education and industry experience. An option may be available for a 175-day contract with summers off. Full-family health insurance and employee-only dental provided with no monthly premium.
