Associate Systems Administrator
Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Systems Administrator.
Manage the servers and applications used by WNCC including, but not limited to, Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and DNS. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software and networking issues; develop technical solutions or recommend outside servicing as needed. Oversee daily backups; verify the validity of the process; review system logs for system quality control; and conduct period recovery testing. Administer, configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating systems, applications, and servers as assigned. Oversee datacenter operations for the primary and backup datacenters. Monitor environmentals, ensure adequate backup power, perform surveillance, ensure industry best practices, and provide vendor oversight. Escalate resolution with vendors and create necessary tickets for tracking. Service tasks in the ticketing system as assigned. Record undocumented tasks in the ticketing system for tracking purposes.
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in computer science, database management or a related field preferred. Previous Microsoft Server, Cisco, Windows 10, Linux (Redhat) training preferred. Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of modern computer and related peripheral equipment. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance required.
