Payroll Accounting Technician
Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Payroll Accounting Technician.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Accounting, this position will process multiple payrolls monthly, initiate direct deposit & maintain employee-banking records, record payroll data in an automated system, collect and verify timekeeping information for non-exempt employees, prepare reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, garnishments and nontaxable wages determine payroll liabilities for employee federal and state income tax and FICA, research and resolve payroll questions and discrepancies, reconcile deductions with statements, serve as liaison with HR.
Equivalent to an associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting, business or a related field. Must have proven experience in payroll processing.
Position requires a fast pace, able to meet deadlines based on experience and judgement, able to plan and accomplish successful workflow. Capable of working independently. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors and staff. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness, accuracy, general math skills and basic skills in Excel are necessary requirements.
