Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Location: Omaha, NE

Schedule: On Call. Monday-Friday; 7:45am to 3:45pm. Work at the Residential Treatment Center (RTC).

Responsibilities:

  • Under the general direction of the Director of Special Education, provides teaching instruction per the instructional plans by the regular classroom teacher.

  • Teaches core subjects (e.g., reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies) at the Behavioral Health School.

  • Demonstrates concern and respect for individual students. Assumes major responsibility for the academic /social skills growth of each student.

  • Interacts with various professionals and family members regarding individual student progress.

  • Serves as a role model in carrying out the Boys Town National Research Hospital mission. Directs all activities towards the fulfillment of the Boys Town National Research Hospital mission.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required to provide instructional plans in the classroom.

  • Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to work well with all levels of professionals, family members and students.

  • Ability to be a role model in carrying out the Boys Town Mission.

  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Must possess a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate.

  • Background and experience to include work with learning disabled and behaviorally impaired learners, preferred.

  • Must possess a commitment to and ability to work with boys and girls with special academic and emotional needs.

  • Current CPR, PEM and nationally recognized personal restraint model must be obtained during Pre-service training.
