The Child and Family Translational Research Center (TRC) at Boys Town seeks a full-time Research Scientist with expertise in preventive and/or treatment intervention. Specific areas of emphasis may include applied research to understand and improve (a) the behavioral and mental health of children, (b) the positive functioning and empowerment of diverse families, (c) the safety and effectiveness of schools, or (d) the implementation of evidence-based interventions in community settings.
The TRC (formerly the National Research Institute for Child and Family Studies) is a highly unique research center embedded within Boys Town, a national service organization, that provides uncommon opportunities for involvement in applied research that directly impacts and improves services. The TRC conducts research on child development and family functioning, tests the efficacy/effectiveness of interventions, and translates findings into practice both within and outside of Boys Town. The TRC also has close ties with the Boys Town National Research Hospital (e.g., the Neurobehavioral Research Center) as well as with local and regional universities, which provides multiple collaboration opportunities.
Responsibilities of the position include the development of an independent, extramurally-funded research program in child, family, school, or community program evaluation as well as leadership in conducting research projects.
Applicants must have demonstrated record of research productivity in the form of relevant peer-reviewed publications and experience with research grant funding. Expertise in advanced longitudinal methods and statistical analysis techniques is preferred. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to integrate his/her research interests with the broad mission of the TRC and Boys Town.
To be considered for this unique opportunity you will need:
o A Ph.D. in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health, or a related field
o 3 to 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of research and evaluation projects
o Experience publishing empirical research and with grant funding
o Knowledge of research design, advanced statistics, and relevant computer software
o Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
o Available to travel to Boys Town national sites and for conferences
