Lead a Thriving Library Team: Public Services Librarian

Are you a passionate library professional with a knack for leadership and instruction? We're seeking a dynamic Public Services Librarian to lead our dedicated team at Bellevue University!

 

In this multifaceted role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Empowering Your Team: Supervising and coaching Reference Librarians, Reference Support Specialists, and the Circulation Supervisor, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Reference Excellence: Overseeing all aspects of reference services, including scheduling, coverage (both in-person and virtual), and providing expert research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Instructional Expertise: Developing and delivering engaging library instruction programs on campus and remotely, collaborating with faculty to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Tracking and reporting reference activity, creating insightful reports like the "Library Instruction Report," to inform library operations.
  • Curating Resources: Contributing to collection development by selecting, weeding, and removing resources to ensure a dynamic and up-to-date collection.
  • Communication & Engagement: Building strong relationships with library staff, faculty, and the broader university community.
  • Lifelong Learner: Staying current with library trends, information science advancements, and professional development opportunities.
  • Active Contributor: Participating in library displays, contributing to the "More Than Books" newsletter and social media, and promoting library services.

 

To be qualified for this leadership role, you'll possess:

  • MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of library experience in reference and administration, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in library research databases and information literacy instruction.
  • Familiarity with library technology and management systems (a plus).
  • A commitment to professional growth and collaboration.
