Bellevue University offers quality liberal arts and career-oriented programs at undergraduate and graduate levels to a diverse student body through both in-class and online venues.  Our Faculty Resource Team is currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our Director, Faculty Resources Position.

Primary Function:  This position will consult with key stakeholders including faculty, instructional developers, instructional technology vendors, Deans, and Instructional Technology Services to address faculty professional development needs. The Director should possess a strong understanding of contemporary instructional methodology and learning theory and should be able to design and evaluate development programs to support faculty in the conceptualization and pragmatic implementation of high-quality learning experiences for students. This position requires constant and deep awareness of trends in educational delivery methods and the ability to assist faculty with the integration of best practices in instructional technology and andragogy.  This position will be a lead resource to the executive leadership team on matters of faculty professional development and will collaborate with them to maintain such development as a strong agenda for the colleges. The Director will plan for, oversee, and sometimes conduct faculty in-house faculty development, both online and in class. The Director will review and evaluate in-house practices, procedures, and protocols relating to faculty professional development, and the Director will make recommendations to the deans on refinements and other upgrades appropriate to meeting faculty needs. The Director is responsible for the Faculty Professional Development budget and for overseeing the work of the Faculty Professional Development staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, trains, develops, and manages the team staff.
  • Provides staff with clear directions and priorities, emphasizing quality standards, service, morale building, and teamwork.
  • Sets specific goals for staff that align with strategic business objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Deans to achieve faculty development goals.
  • In collaboration with the Deans, plans and implements faculty development programs,   including the academic unit’s expectations, processes, and procedures, for all faculty, both continuing and new.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in education and faculty development.
  • Assists with providing development opportunities to program directors and course responsible parties in techniques and skills for developing and working with faculty.
  • Conducts or arranges for ongoing technical training and personal and professional development for staff members.
  • Assists with new faculty orientation sessions and collaborate with the Deans and Adjunct Faculty Managers on the onboarding training for new hires.


  • Master’s degree in training, communication, management or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for demonstrating and promoting products or services.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, Kirkpatrick's training measures, Bloom’s taxonomy, andragogical methods, learning styles, and job task analysis, quality assurance, and control.
  • Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Skill in communicating orally and in writing in a clear manner.
  • Experience in survey, assessment, and metric development.
  • Technical writing and training module development, design and production, product design and development.
  • In-person and online facilitation and platform presentation skills; Multimedia capture, editing and production.

      Working Conditions:

  • May have to work some flexible hours to handle student needs.
