CAPstone is a Child Advocacy Program designed to be child-friendly and family-oriented, and to provide coordination of services and community resources.
Our goal is to provide a safe, child-friendly place where kids who have been abused can talk about what happened to them – and not have to repeat their story over and over again. They are interviewed by trained interviewers, and the interview is recorded. We work closely with the County Attorney, Law Enforcement, Health & Human services, and medical and mental health professionals to best meet the needs of the child and work towards successful prosecution of the offender at the same time. We have a full time child advocate who works with the family through the whole process. Healing cannot begin until the child talks about what happened. Once they tell, the abuse can be stopped. They have a better chance for a healthy adult life, if abuse is disclosed and treatment begun – the younger the better
