The Domestic Violence Council (DVC) is the only nonprofit organization in Douglas County, Nebraska that unites people, services and systems to end intimate partner violence. Through collective impact, public policy advocacy, community safety assessments and a training institute for professionals, we work to ensure that every person who reaches out for help will find it.
The DVC staff is a team of systems change professionals who work to coordinate best practice efforts among government agencies, the courts, service providers and the private sector. All these agencies share the common goal of victim safety and offender accountability.
First and foremost, ending or reducing domestic violence requires commitment and constant attention by community leaders and the courts. We must collaborate in all that we do: from batterer intervention services available, to shelter and support offered to victims and their children, and to the consequences batterers receive for their violence from all areas of our community.
