Omaha Outward Bound School
To inspire character development and self-discovery in people of all ages and walks of life through challenge and adventure, and to impel them to achieve more than they ever thought possible, to show compassion for others and to actively engage in creating a better world.
(Outward Bound USA Mission)
To change the lives of youth and adults by building each individual’s capacity to lead and serve as stewards of our community.
Challenge Yourself. Change Your World. Outward Bound.
Outward Bound was founded in 1941 by German born educator Kurt Hahn in Aberdovey, Wales. Originally a training school for young sailors on British merchant ships during WWII, Outward Bound has emerged as the foremost provider of learning experiences to realize their potential.
The term “Outward Bound” is a nautical term used when a ship is leaving the safety of the harbor.
Outward Bound ran its first course in the United States in Colorado in 1962. Be it school age youth or corporate executives, Outward Bound boasts an alumni network of over a million people in the United States.
In 2010, Outward Bound Omaha was created to bring high quality experiential education programs to Nebraska. Based on a curriculum that is focused on developing high quality leaders within the Omaha metro area, we serve students through school-based programs, one day challenge course programs, and backcountry expeditions. In addition to youth programs, Outward Bound Omaha provides programs that focus on corporate teambuilding and educator training.
