Utilizing your strengths and your team

How can we be the best in our current role? Every role in a company requires many strengths, but we can’t be everything to everybody. Sometimes we have to realize that to be the best we have to utilize our team, rather than trying to do everything on our own.

This week we’ve laid out two tips to help you utilize your own strengths and your team’s strengths:

Know your own strengths.

You need to be able to say with confidence what you do well and what you can contribute to the team. Keep in mind that when we are doing more of what we are good at, we’re more engaged and we achieve more as individuals. If you don’t know what you’re good at, you’re hindering the efficiency of yourself and your other team members.

Getting to know your own strengths can be a difficult task. To help you get started, try checking out Gallup’s Strengthsfinder test.

Look for a partner that balances out the talents you don’t have.

You may be surprised at the tasks other people enjoy doing that you may not. Knowing what others can bring to the table is a huge asset to both yourself and the team.

Keeping these tips in mind will help you and your team reach its maximum potential. No organization can succeed unless we utilize the power of teams. To be the best, we have to understand what our own strengths are as well as how we can capitalize on the talent around us.
