A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to study the role of central nervous system in altered autonomic regulation during heart failure and diabetes. Emphasis will be placed on the examination of forebrain mechanisms which contribute to altered sympathetic outflow during heart failure and diabetes. Although outstanding candidates in all areas of physiology will be considered, special consideration will be given to individuals who will complement our existing strengths in neural control of the cardiovascular system and has previous experience in electrophysiology in general and specifically be able to do extracellular recordings from neurons in the brains of rats generally and specifically within the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. Also experience with whole animal instrumentation for electrophysiological recordings will be considered. M.D. or Ph.D. is required
