Ongoing investigations involve the signal transduction mechanisms of airway epithelial cell function. Studies include cytokine release assays, wound healing and cell migration assays, kinase, phosphatase and phosphodiesterase assays, digital analysis of ciliary beat frequency, nitric oxide measurements, and phosphoprotein substrate assays in alcohol-fed and cigarette smoke-exposed cell and animal models. Candidates must have a PhD with experience in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, cell signaling, molecular biology, or animal models of disease.
