Position Description
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. A valid NE Teaching
Certificate or the ability to obtain one in Special Education-Visual Impairment.
Students
with visual impairments are provided service based on needs identified in the
IEP. Students
are taught compensatory skills which will enable them to be successful in the
regular
classroom or other educational placement. These skills include Braille reading
and writing,
use of assistive technology devices, keyboarding, listening skills, and
orientation and
mobility. Visually Impaired resource teachers work directly with students as
well as
consult with general education or other special education staff. This position requires
travel and a valid NE driver’s license. This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to
foster positive human relationships and the ability to work
effectively with students, staff, parents and the community. This individual will exhibit
strong standards of professional ethics. An applicant may receive credit up to 10 yrs
experience. (single health insurance.)
