POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible and accountable for operating and maintaining building utility systems and plant operations equipment for The Nebraska Medical Center facilities and satellite clinics in order to maintain a reliable, safe and cost effective facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license required Minimum of three years mechanical experience around machinery and/or engines. Electro/mechanical experienced preferred. Licensed 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer in the City of Omaha Preferred Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with tools arid test instruments. Possess a thorough knowledge of plant operations, which consists of heating systems, cooling systems, ventilation systems, electrical systems, medical gas systems, sanitation systems, potable water systems, and other building utility systems and plant operations equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve problems and make decisions while working in stressful situations. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including the capability to comprehend equipment instruction/service manuals and drawings. Capable of communicating effectively (verbal and written) with patient care providers, patients, visitors, management and other staff Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance functions and possesses strong written documentation skills.
