POSITION PURPOSE:

Conduct music therapy on the hospital campus for the entire continuum of patient care in accordance with national and state organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Provide support to and expand our existing Child & Family Development Department services as well as further our commitment to a healing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited college or university required. Successfully completed and maintained a Board Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc. required. Experience as a Certified Music Therapist is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Knowledge of the Standards of Clinical Practice as established by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) required. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and time management skills rqeuired. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, to include physicians, clinical staff and the non-clinical public required. Visual and auditory ability to assess patient condition and to administer effective therapeutic intervention required. Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, fine and gross motor skills and tactile abilities to perform functions outlined in the scope of practice required. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required. Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of the interdisciplinary approach required. Demonstrated ability to generate enthusiasm and participation required.
