Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) preferred.
• Requires extensive knowledge of the following: Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications and dosages, and laboratory values with broad knowledge of all specialties.
• English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
• Medical transcription guidelines and practices.
• Medicolegal concepts.
• Dictation and transcription equipment.
• Editing practices to include recognition of inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
• Use of reference materials.
• One or two years of experience in an acute care facility required.

Position Duties:

• Promotes positive relations when interacting with co-workers, physicians, and other customers, as well as patients and visitors.
• Transcribes/edits medical and psychiatric reports for all specialties as assigned from a variety of patient care providers with various accents, dialects, and dictation styles, to ensure timely documentation while meeting departmental productivity and quality standards.
• Develops/maintains strong understanding of dictation/transcription applications to enable search for correct patient/correct patient encounter.
• Regularly completes end-of-day procedure.
• Clarifies dictation which is unclear or incomplete.
