Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Type 40 WPM on a computer keyboard.

Previous healthcare customer service, medical terminology and CRT experience preferred but not required.

Training period requires 2-4 months on the job to learn hospital policies, procedures and registration functions.
Job Duties:

Follows procedures in place to accurately make decisions regarding Payer requirements for Notifications and Pre-Certification. Uses Daily census to determine that all cases that require Notification are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.

Enters data accurately, exchanges accurate and thorough information with customers and documents accurately to assure timely handling according to department standards.

Collaborates with UR Department staff to facilitate precertification by using clear communication skills and professional excellence. Completes Precertification and Notification data entry with a high degree of accuracy.

Consistently adheres to Safety and Infection Control guidelines and reports any unsafe conditions or accidents immediately, to assure a work environment, according to hospital policy.

Uses the following systems to gain information needed for notification and precertification: Passport System, Patient Records System, Cerner, Doc Imaging Extender, MIS and other insurance website.

Serves as a liaison between Payers, UR Department and the Patient Financial Counselors staff to assure that patients receive maximum benefits in their plan for customer satisfaction and meets NMH reimbursement potential.

Performs other duties as assigned, maintains team work, positive mentoring and willingly assists with training of employees by positively assisting with the implementation of new procedures and job functions to enhance Access Center services.
