As a vital member of the Disability Support Services team, this position is responsible for providing access for students with disabilities in accordance with the ADA and national guidelines from AHEAD. Performs intake interviews with students and prospective students who have requested or been referred for disability related accommodations. Obtains and assesses documentation of disability in order to identify and implement appropriate academic adjustments/accommodations. Provides vocational, academic and individual counseling to students with disabilities. Works in collaboration with outside agencies to coordinate access and support services. Consults with faculty to identify and implement curriculum adjustments and other modifications as may be required to ensure equal educational opportunity. Maintains appropriate confidential student records, including statistical information. Attends monthly Disability Support Services staff meetings. Acts as a resource on disability related information to students, faculty, staff and the community.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree with minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Counseling required. Higher education counseling experience preferred. Strong communication and coordination skills, both written and verbal required. Position is located at the South Omaha Campus and involves travel to other campuses.
