The primary duty of the Geotechnical EIT is to supervise subsurface exploration contractor and classify soil and rock. Summarize surface and subsurface investigations and prepare site characterization reports. More specific duties include doing slope stability and soil analysis and other geotechnical engineering studies. Projects have clear, specified objectives and limited variables. Works independently on small projects or assists more senior engineers on larger projects. May give direction to clerical and technical personnel.
