The primary responsibilities of the Bridge Engineer will be applying structural engineering and detailing techniques. The types of projects include bridge (primarily steel plate girder and prestressed concrete) design, box culvert layout and design, and general bridge analysis and design for highway and railway projects. Daily activities include selecting bridge engineering design procedures, analyzing and detailing bridge structures using specialized software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, MDX and developing and checking project plans, specifications, quantities and cost estimates. Individual will also develop, review, and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by other engineers and EITs. Ability and willingness to be involved in bridge inspection activities is desirable. May serve as a project manager on small to mid-size projects. Requires participation in business development for the office, particularly with DOT clients.

Experience in design calculations and layouts.

Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.

Excellent communication skills and working in a team environment.

Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
