This position will provide hands-on leadership in the design, implementation, communication,
administration, and continuous improvement of HDR’s compensation and benefits programs in
the U.S. and international offices. Ensures all offerings are aligned
with the company’s strategic goals and objectives, are externally competitive, and optimize
company and individual performance. Interacts and communicates effectively with individuals
at all levels of the organization, including Board members, senior executives, and
individual contributors. Directs and manages a staff of five as well as external vendors
and service providers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as an internal consultant to business units on all compensation and benefit practices.
- Identify market trends, monitor competitiveness of programs, model cost implications, recommend and develop innovative and effective compensation and benefits programs and solutions within HDR’s total rewards strategy.
- Position total compensation practices and programs to attract and retain talent and support business and market needs.
- Understand stock options/SARs and familiarity with regard to tax and accounting regulations.
- Oversee the administration of the base salary program to ensure internal and external equity
- Oversee participation and data analysis in multiple salary surveys.
- Directly supervise compensation and benefits, including staff development, process improvements, policy interpretation, projects and reports, compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and coordination with corporate policies on benefits issues with system-wide impact.
- Partner with the employment department as well as other HR staff members to successfully develop, brand, and communicate effective total rewards strategies for attraction and retention of key staff.
- Provide thorough and detailed compensation and benefits evaluations, analyses, recommendations, and reporting.
- Research and analyze information for senior leaders for development of and changes to executive and cash compensation and equity programs.
- Provide guidance, support, training, and direction to managers for HDR’s annual compensation process.
- Analyze market data and develop merit and bonus programs that adequately reflect differentiation based on performance and adherence to budget.
- Manage relations with brokers, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies. Evaluate vendor performance, provide improvement feedback, and make changes as necessary.

REQUIRES
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or related disciplines required. An MS or MBA degree is highly desirable.
- 10+ years experience in Human Resources, financial management or compensation and benefits; at least 5 years of compensation and benefits experience, preferably leading the function.
- Excellent computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Expert ability to create spreadsheets to support analysis and recommendations.
- Certification in Compensation Planning (CCP) desirable.
- Experience with policy development, administration, and record-keeping of health and welfare plans, 401(k) plan, and leaves required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical ability required.
