policy, energy, healthcare and transportation.
The Economist conducts primary and secondary research to support the formulation of
analytical solutions, the development of economic models and the interpretation of results.
In this capacity the Economist collects and reviews existing research and assesses the
applicability of results to the problem at hand. The Economist also collects, compiles and
assesses data relating to research issues, utilizing knowledge of available data sources
and various econometric and sampling techniques. The position, therefore, requires a highly
resourceful individual with a sound knowledge of economic and econometric methods.
- In addition to being an analytical thinker the Economist possesses strong writing and presentation skills with an ability to communicate complex analytical concepts. He or she organizes data into report format and arranges for preparation of graphic illustrations of research findings. The role also calls for the formulation of recommendations, policies, or plans to aid in market interpretation or solution of client issues with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.

Masters in economics or finance or related fields with an emphasis on the application and
interpretation of research. Experience in conceptualizing and developing economic or
business models using analytical methods is required. Excellent knowledge of
economic/econometric methods is needed. Experience with analytical packages and/or
programming languages (SAS, Eviews, SPSS, Visual Basic, etc.) and excellent knowledge of
Microsoft Windows, Excel, Power Point, and Access is required. Background in statistics and
bilingual capability are definite assets. The Economist is required to be a highly
resourceful researcher with strong oral and written communication skills. Will also need to
