Position Description

The Ports Project Engineer will participate in the planning and layout of projects for overall design and contract document stages for all types of marine structure projects. Perform and oversee other design professionals performing investigations, evaluations and designs and oversea the development of reports, construction drawings, contractual and technical specifications. Participate in, guide and review the development of accurate opinions of probable costs for construction projects including construction schedules for projects. .

The types of structures and conditions that the project engineer shall be proficient in designing are as follows: anchored bulkheads and cantilevered retaining walls; wharves; piers; navigation channels; jetties; marinas; outfall structures and other facilites required for accommodating and berthing vessels in a wide range of sizes.

BSCE or related degree.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Maintains engineering professional registration.
  • This position requires associated subject knowledge and experience in the use of software as follows:
  • Static and dynamic vessel mooring analysis.
  • Soil-structure interaction analyses for laterally loaded piles and pile groups.
  • Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Fender selection.
  • Slope stability analyses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Minimum Experience: 8
