Position Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides durable medical equipment and supply services to patients as ordered by physician that may include but not limited to, wheelchair delivery and set-up, bed delivery and set-up, delivery of supplies, return of durable medical equipment, durable medical equipment function testing and cleaning, and nebulizer delivery and set-up.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides durable medical equipment and supply services to patients as ordered by physician that may include but not limited to, wheelchair delivery and set-up, bed delivery and set-up, delivery of supplies, return of durable medical equipment, durable medical equipment function testing and cleaning, and nebulizer delivery and set-up.
  • Responsible for the checking of accuracy of orders picked for the next day deliveries.
  • Responsible for the cleaning of warehouse area, assuring that inventory is accessible.
  • Delivers pharmacy supplies as scheduled and assists in exchanges of durable medical equipment scheduled for preventative maintenance.
  • Delivers and picks up durable medical equipment as scheduled and may provide set-up instruction on specific durable medical equipment i.e., wheelchairs, walkers, beds, nebs, bath chairs, etc.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Children’s Home Healthcare products, supplies, services, policies and procedures in order to respond to customer inquiries.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adjusts to changing, unusual or difficult situations and handles stressful situations in a professional, appropriate manner.
  • Follows safety procedures for all home medical equipment, with specific attention given to electrical equipment and compressed gas cylinders.
  • Assists in deliveries and pick-ups of discontinued durable medical equipment as scheduled.
  • Follows a system for separation of clean, dirty and broken equipment in company vehicle.
  • Assists in the tracking, cleaning and maintaining of durable medical equipment.
  • Assists in the re-stocking of inventory, preventive maintenance of all durable medical equipment, and shipping of supplies to patients as needed.
  • Assists in pulling of patient supply orders and make ready for delivery.
  • Assists in daily cleaning and function testing of equipment to assure the safe and efficient delivery of patient ready equipment.
  • Must be accountable, have good judgment and ability to function independently in the work environment.
  • Operates and inspects company vehicles in a safe, responsible manner while maintaining good driving record.
  • Completes all required documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner on proper forms, according to internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • In accordance with agency time frames, submits delivery tickets of each visit to home, containing notes of any pertinent information on delivery provided.
  • Work assignments and projects are completed in a thorough, accurate and timely manner. Analyzes and prioritizes workload and utilizes time effectively.
  • Completes all required customer documentation and reporting in an accurate and timely manner on the correct forms, according to internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews all documents for accuracy for set-ups before turning in. Returns all equipment sheets to warehouse bin to ensure their return to patient services. Documents on Teaching Log/Care plan for set-up of wheelchairs and bath equipment.
  • Dependable, arrives and begins work on time. Adheres to the attendance policy. Workspace is left clean, and organized
  • Assists in maintaining of the documentation of all durable medical equipment returns and exchanges and checking in of all returned equipment in information system.
  • Assists with the monthly report of all durable medical equipment due for preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains ongoing communications with Home Medical Equipment Manager concerning status and any information, which may influence or change provision of services.
  • Has a “can do” attitude by responding positively to instructions. Responds calmly and appropriately to confrontational situations.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Attends monthly department meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
  • Performs on-call duties on a rotational basis as schedule requires.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience:

  • One year experience with durable medical equipment set-up with an emphasis on wheelchairs, oxygen delivery, and rehabilitation equipment preferred but will train. Experience with pediatric products and population preferred
Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or equivalent experience.
Licensure:

  • Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record and ability to provide own transportation
