General Summary:Responsible for providing professional nursing care based on
scope of nursing practice
/patient care protocols and in accordance with Children’s Physicians
policies and
procedures.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care based on established patient care protocol and the nursing process.
- Performs treatments, procedures and medication/immunization administration in a professional and compassionate manner according to office protocol.
- Completes an accurate assessment of physical, mental, emotional, developmental and social conditions when interviewing all patients/families in the office and on the telephone.
- Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient/family, other physicians/hospitals and the insurance companies as determined by the needs of the patient.
- Coordinates and provides patient and family education.
- Demonstrates knowledge and provides care based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent according to protocol.
- Completes all required patient care documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record.
- Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life threatening emergencies.
- Directs other team members in the delivering of nursing care as determined by the needs of the office and the direction of the office manager or physician(s).
- Demonstrates skill in communication and customer services.
- Communicates with patients, physicians, families, caregivers, other health care providers and interdisciplinary team members in a professional, appropriate, timely and compassionate manner.
- Utilizes appropriate communication skills to provide care or service based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infant, toddler, preschool, school age and adolescent children.
- Communicates issues appropriately and participates in their resolution process in a positive manner.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to the diversity of others.
- Understands and supports Children’s Physicians mission, vision, values and culture.
- Performs a wide range of tasks, adapts to changes in workload and completes assignments and maintaining quality patient care in a professional manner.

- Adheres to Children’s Physicians policies and procedures, rules and regulations and other state and federal regulatory requirements. Examples are OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, etc.
- Participates in compliance programs to prevent illegal and unethical conduct.
- Participates in mandatory in-services, office meetings and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures and to keep informed of changes affecting nursing and children’s health.
- Understands and supports Children’s Physician’s goals, office policies and procedures, management decisions and Compliance Plan.
- Reports illegal and/or unethical act promptly to the Compliance Officer.
- Conduct responsibilities in accordance with all laws and regulations.
- Maintains patient information as confidential.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of clinical information systems.
- Minimizes occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Utilizes appropriate work practices, personal protective equipment and engineering controls.
- Participates in exposure control training.
- Promptly reports to office manager exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Graduate from an accredited school. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
LICENSURE
- Valid RN license for NE/IA depending state of residency.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous pediatric nursing experience.
SKILLS:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
OTHERS:
- Basic Life Support Certification.
