About Our Company

 

Cahaba Government Benefit Administrators, LLC is a CMS Contractor which administers Medicare Claims.  We have been a claims administrator for CMS for over 40 years.

We are a CMS Contracted Carrier/Intermediary and an Affiliate of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

 

Department Overview

 

Cahaba Government Benefit Administrators, LLC Provider Audit and Reimbursement is responsible for Medicare Part A reimbursement and audit for Institutional Providers. This area sets reimbursement rates, makes payments, and analyzes Medicare cost reports for these providers. The Iowa office of this Division is also responsible for the Medicare reimbursement and audit functions for Home Health Agency Providers.

 

General Responsibilities

 

The Auditor Staff is to analyze and audit Medicare cost reports of all health care provider types including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, community mental health centers and end-stage renal disease facilities and home health agencies in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services' guidelines.  The incumbent will serve as an assistant on field and in-house audit assignments and will perform desk assignments (including tentative settlements, desk reviews, cost report reopenings, wage index and Medicare Secondary Payer audits) as well.  Some in-state and out-of-state travel is required.

 

Qualifications

 

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred, or at a minimum a Bachelor's degree with the equivalent experience and/or education.
2. This position requires the use of judgment in dealing with confidential data
3. This position requires interpreting and communicating information orally and written
4. Proficient in using Microsoft Word
5. Proficient in using Microsoft Excel
6. Able to travel up to 50%
7. Internal or External audit experience preferred
8. Experience working in the health care industry desired
9. Knowledge of Medicare regulations preferred

 

Work Schedule

 

The hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
