The Alliance Housing Authority (AHA) was formed by the city of Alliance in 1973 through a contractual arrangement with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD.) Initially the AHA offered Section 8 Housing Assistance in the community, and in 1979 added 24 units of Public Housing to its holdings. In 1981, twenty-five more units of Public Housing were built, and 10 scattered site units were acquired in 1985 and 1986.
Today, the AHA provides housing assistance throughout the Northern panhandle. THe AHA is also in the process of building an 18 unit moderate income Senior Development for Seniors 55 years and older.
The mission of the AHA is to provide safe and decent affordable housing to families and individuals based on their individual merits, and without consideration of color, creed, race, religious preference, age, gender and physical and/or developmental challenges.
Rent (including utilities), is based on 30% of total household income after deductions. Families and individuals are welcome to apply at the AHA office, 300 South Potash, Suite 27.
