Serves as liaison between facility and patients.
Perform a variety of interpretation and translation services to assist non-English speaking patients receiving care from the clinics.
Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretations of conversations or speeches. Ensure that the information communicated by the staff is understood by patient/family; ensure that patients communication to the staff are accurate, precise and convey the intended message.
Articulate and document information accurately to convey patients questions, concerns and messages; provide required documentation as identified by the facility; maintain accurate and timely documentation as required.
Understand ethnic customs, cultures and religious attitudes.
Understands and adheres to Patient Rights according to facility policies.
Answer telephone and responds as appropriate per clinic guidelines.
Experience
Experience as an interpreter.
One or more years in computer, clerical/business with customer service emphasis in an ambulatory health care setting, knowledge of insurance protocols; knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred, all Required experience components with clinic operations experience in an ambulatory health care setting.
Education/Licensure
High school diploma or GED equivalent with office/clerical skills, computer applications preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have a high level of communication skills in English and specific second language.
Must have the ability to interpret language accurately in various situations and difficulty levels, with an understanding and acceptance of different cultures.
Must have to ability to work accurately and objectively.
Knowledge of business office functions (ie. phone systems, typing, alpha/numeric filing systems, customer service, cash handling, office equipment, computer applications, etc.
