JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for making nursing observation, assessment, and providing supportive palliative care to client/family at home or place of residence; functioning as a provider of specialized nursing care to clients and acting as liaison between client and physician; and in conjunction with fellow Hospice team members, and under the supervision of a RN, providing support to client and family.
This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent physical assessment skills required. Communication skills (verbal and written) with clients/families and staff are essential. Ability to cope with stress, resourcefulness and flexible attitude toward differing cultures and life styles required. Physical stamina needed for on call responsiblities related to unscheduled visits. Knowledge of and ability to apply hospice nursing principles and practices, including exercise independent nursing judgement. Knowledge of teaching/learning principles, environmental hazards and good safety practices. Ability to perform CPR and assemble, record, and present data in a concise, organized, and systematic manner.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current Nebraska Practical Nurse license required.
Valid Nebraska driver's license and state required minimum automobile insurance coverage required.
Current CPR certification required.
EDUCATION/TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
Two years of acute care/long term care nursing experience within the last five years required.
Experience in community health and/or hospice preferred.
