Position Description
This online application is for any Service Technician position that is not
currently available with Presto-X. All applications will be sent to the Human
Resources
office in Omaha, NE. Applications will be kept on file for 1 year or until a
position
becomes available.

-Training- 4 to 8 weeks of classroom and in-field training.
-Thereafter, monthly in-house training and attendance at the Annual
-Technical conference in Omaha, Nebraska in the early spring.
-We provide Rodent, Insect, Pest Bird and Industrial Weed Control Services.
Insect Control
includes Termite Control utilizing baits, Structural Fumigation Services and
Sanitation
Inspection Services.

SCOPE OF POSITION
Technical Service Representative provides pest management services, manages and
provides
service to established monthly route of commercial/industrial clients, maintains
contact
and goodwill with Presto-X-Company clients. Completes required records/reports
for clients
and employer and represents Presto-X-company in a professional manner at all
times. Calls
on potential clients to develop new business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
Technical Service Representative works irregular hours alone inside/outside in
hot/cold
weather. Lift and use equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs. Wear
respirator
protection and/or other safety equipment. Drive vehicles, CDL required. Use
ladders and
climb up/down balancing and carrying 20-25 lbs. Fasten and unfasten safety
belts. Spray
while carrying 20 lbs. in other hand/shoulder. Work on heights (i.e. roofs) and
in confined
spaces (crawl space). Must crouch, crawl, kneel, stoop, bend, stretch, hold,
grasp, open,
push and pull. Must see, smell and recognize problem areas and pests. Read,
write, use
math, learn, comprehend, memorize, speak, listen, think, place values, make
decisions and
recommendations.
I. JOB DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES, OBJECTIVES AND PERFORMANCE
STANDARDS
A. Schedules Service Calls
· Is responsible for completing the monthly schedule of service calls
based on the
route assigned by the Manager.
· Ensures service calls as scheduled as agreed upon in Service Contract.
· Contacts office at designated times during the day for any calls.
· Telephones Manager, Technical Services Manager and/or Home Office for
pest
identification occasionally.
· Must complete 50% of assigned Contract Service work by the 15th of the
month and
have it in the Home Office by the 15th of each month as required 10 out of 12
consecutive
months.
B. Performs Service Calls
· Checks in with contact person each service visit at each client
location to
determine specific concerns and needs.
· Installs, checks, cleans, date and initials, and services rodent
control equipment
as per client contract.
· After making an inspection to determine the needs, selects and applies
the
appropriate pest management material according to label directions to maintain
preventive/corrective control of pests for the client.
· To prevent contamination of client’s property, all materials are
applied in a
careful and responsible manner.
· Post warning signs and other materials as required.
· Inspects premises to determine unsanitary conditions and structural
concerns in and
around the client’s buildings. Advises client accordingly by report and
personal
discussion.
· Voluntarily checks back on client concerns without being requested to
do so by
client or Manager.
· Completes service tickets accurately at the conclusion of each account.
C. Provides Routine Maintenance on Vehicle and Equipment
· Repairs minor service equipment breakdowns and reports major equipment
breakdowns
to Manager.
· Submits vehicle to authorized repair center upon Manager’s
approval.
· Maintains truck in safe, clean and organized fashion.
· Vehicle should be washed and cleaned inside at least once a week or as
directed by
Manager.
D. Maintains Up-Keep of Inventory and Inventory Reports
· Orders supplies once a month after review by Manager.
· Maintains warehouse in a safe, clean and organized fashion.
· Completes Commission and Inventory Reports on a timely basis and
submits to Home
Office by the 5th of the following month.
E. Certification License, Re-Certification Meetings, Driver’s License,
Continuing
Education
· Must be certified in all structural pest control categories and keep
certification
current.
· Attend and participate in monthly in-house technical training sessions
and yearly
Presto-X-Company Technical Conference.
· Develop and present tech topic presentation on a regularly scheduled
basis to
colleagues during monthly in-house technical training sessions.
· Attend state and/or regional training programs when requested by the
Manager.
· Must have and maintain current appropriate CDL license to operate a
Company
vehicle. Must pass physical required for CDL.
· Must complete continuing educational requirements: Purdue Pest
Management
Technology; Purdue Food Plant Pest Management, AIB Food Processing
Sanitation/Hygiene and
Presto-X University courses as assigned.
F. Completes Reports
· Technical Reports: Completes log reports as required and submits to the
client and
Home Office if required. Mail to the Service Center once a week. This report
consists of
pest activity noted, concentration of materials used, description of
application,
location(s) applied, sanitation and structural deficiencies.
· Daily Activity Reports: Completes and submits them to the Home Office
daily; also
provides a copy for Manager, at request. Report consists of listing accounts
serviced in
order work is performed, client paid/charge/retreat, amount of time spent at
each service,
type and amount.
· Expense Reports: Completes weekly and submits it to the Home Office.
This report
must arrive in the Home Office no later than one (1) week before payday in order
to be
processed. This report is a record of vehicle expense, mileage, food, hotel
bills, etc.
· Commission/Inventory Reports: Completes and submits to the Home Office
by the 5th
of the following month. These reports are a record of what the Technical Service
Representative sells such as equipment and contract services.
G. Sales
· Is responsible for producing new business in assigned territory by
developing
potential client sales leads and referrals; yearly goal is $10,000.
· Develops proposals, presents proposals, has contracts signed and
forwards
appropriate paperwork to the Service Center for processing.
· Follows up with calls to new clients to insure that they are satisfied
with
service.
· Meet budget as set forth by Manager.
II. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Personal Characteristics
· Knowledge of geography of the territory, basic entomology, laws
concerning pest
management materials use, EPA guidelines, which materials are effective against
which
pests.
· Knowledge of the time necessary to complete particular service calls.
· Ability to manage own time.
· Knowledge of basic mathematical skills.
· Knowledge of basic mechanical skills.
· Must have a good driving record.
· Must have the ability to fill out reports properly.
· Must be willing to work flexible hours, some holidays, and weekends.
· Must be willing to travel and in some cases stay out overnight.
· Must be neat and presentable to the public.
· Must be punctual.
· Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
· Must possess good customer service skills.
B. Education and Experience Required
· High school diploma or GED and State certification as a commercial
pesticide
applicator in appropriate commercial pesticide applicator categories.
III. SUPERVISION

A. Nature of Supervision
· Consults Manager for assistance and direction on sales, setting up new
accounts,
pricing, equipment, vehicle repair and special pest concerns.
· Each month Technical Service Representative attends a monthly training
meeting.
· Assist with on-the-job training of new Technical Service
Representatives with
problem accounts and unique pest concerns.
IV. JOB DEMANDS

· Must be able to build and maintain good client relations.
· Must be able to make accurate identification of pests and decisions on
the best
method to address client pest problems and implementation methods.
· Must be mentally and physically able to safely apply pesticide
materials.
· Must be punctual with scheduled work and required paperwork/reports.
B. Physical (Operation of Equipment, Exertion, Work Position, etc.)
· Must be able to operate truck, hand sprayer, power sprayer, power
drill,
flashlight, respiratory protection equipment, ULV equipment.
· Much of the time is spent standing, walking, bending and crawling. The
sprayers
usually weigh 18 to 24 lbs. and bait containers weigh up to 35 lbs. May need to
work from
heights and in confined places.
C. Confidentiality
· Account information such as sanitary conditions and pest activities
must be held in
strict confidence.
D. Safety
· Must work safely.
· Must operate vehicle in a safe manner.
· Must wear seat belt at all times when in Company vehicle.
· Must back in Company vehicle at all times, unless prohibited.
· Must lock Company vehicle and all compartments at all times.
· Must maintain equipment in good working order.
· Must apply pest management materials and use safety equipment according
to label
directions.
· Must dispose of unused materials and containers according to label
directions and
company policy.
· Must abide by all clients safety requirements.
E. Finance, Including Gains, Losses and Expenses, Consequence of Errors
· Careful and proper application of pest management materials is required
to maintain
cost efficiency.
· Improper application of pest management materials could bring legal
action such as
lawsuits and fines, which could result in substantial dollar losses.
· Using the wrong material or incorrect applications of materials may
result in a
fine by the state regulatory agencies and cost of retreating a client’s
premises.
· Partial or improper application of pest management materials could
result in
unsatisfactory control and additional time and materials needed to correct the
condition.
V. CONDITIONS OF WORK, PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
A. Hazards
· Hazards include working at heights (ladders/roofs), working with
potentially
hazardous materials, occasionally handling live animals that have been trapped
and working
in noisy areas.
B. Travel
· Travel varies depending on the size and location of the territory. In
rural
territories, Technical Service Representatives may travel 2,000 miles a month or
more.
Approximately 20% of the time is spent driving. In urban areas, travel may be
only 500/600
miles a month. Approximately 10% to 15% of the time is spent driving.
C. Work Schedule
· Must work around client needs. If a client wants a service call at an
odd hour, we
must comply. However, if a specific time is not requested, service may be
scheduled at the
Technical Service Representative’s convenience.
· Requests for additional service, special calls, etc. should be
scheduled promptly
and performed the day of the call; within 24 hours.
· Will be required to perform service from approximately 6:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. There
will be some irregular hours due to client needs. There will be regularly
scheduled work
during shut down periods (late evening, early morning and weekends).
· Perform other duties as assigned.
VI. SPECIAL FEATURES
· Technical Service Representatives are required to manage own time and
complete
assigned accounts each month. While in the field they are responsible to both
the client
and Presto-X-Company. This position can, at times, be stressful.
