SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Working closely with the CFO, establish and perpetually re-evaluate the tax strategies of the company to minimize the company’s tax liability. Taxes include: federal, state and foreign income taxes; franchise taxes; sales and use taxes, real and personal property taxes; excise taxes; and all other  taxes.
  • Responsible for the quality of returns, forms and other documents dealing with the above listed taxes. Filings may be prepared by Aspen Holdings personnel or third parties.
  • Responsible for all income tax reporting in the financial statements, whether audited or unaudited, GAAP or Statutory, in accordance with the prescribed principles for reporting.
  • Advise Aspen Holdings and operational management regarding effects of business activities on taxes
  • Provide written documentation supporting any and all tax issues, completed in accordance with the standards used by “Big 4” firms, including compliance with Circular 230 and any other guidance (e.g., AICPA Tax Standards).
  • Provide tax planning ideas that eliminate, defer or minimize the payment of taxes by Aspen Holdings.
  • Work with Analysis team in tax planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Manage working relationship with outside service providers (e.g., accountants, auditors, tax consultants), ensuring maximum return on the expense incurred in utilizing these service providers by managing costs and by maintaining an appropriate balance of the work to be outsourced to such provides with the work to be retained in-house.
  • Continuously improve the processing of information for tax reporting by leveraging Information Technology resources.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
 
  • Minimum 10 Years Relevant Experience, including 4 years experience as a manager with a “Big 4” firm (or the industry equivalent) during that period.
  • CPA license, to be maintained through the course of employment with company
  • Experience with Insurance Companies is desired
  • Knowledge of tax law and procedures
  • Tax research skills
  • Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external parties
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong Computer Skills – Microsoft Office and Crystal Reports
  • Adaptable and relish in change
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
