This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital located in West Omaha in a newly created position for a full time Clinical Informaticist.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with informatics experience required.
- A minimum of three years of nursing experience required.
- Perioperative experience is preferred.
- Extensive work related to project management.
- The ability to establish, plan, prioritize and implement strategies to achieve goals.
- The ability to work independently.
The Clinical Informaticist will be responsible for:
- Identifying the clinical data requirements of the patient across the hospital, as it relates to Quality and Safety.
- Helping coordinate the advancement of clinical information system to satisfy these data requirements.
- Creating guidelines for vendor demonstration in order to most efficiently use hospital resources.
- Creating and chairing a Clinical Informatics Committee to represent the hospital and clinics.
- Working with vendor representatives to create and maintain a unified data dictionary for the hospital.
- Advocating for patients' needs and rights pertaining to the hospital's clinical information systems, including issues of confidentiality of medical information.
- Developing and implementing strategies to move the Hospital toward a fully integrated computerized patient record.
- Educating existing and new clinicians and staff across the hospital about plans for the information systems and relevant informatics issues.
- Setting up a clinicians hot line to answer questions and concerns.
- Ensuring order sets are standardized and integrated as appropriate.
- Working closely with clinicians, departmental leadership, Quality and Information System staff to clarify needs, prioritize requests, recommend technology design and execute change and adaption to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Participating in Clarus and other clinical applications design, validation, testing, staff education, etc.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge of clinical applications utilized by Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital.
- Assisting with the collection and reporting of metrics.
- Monitoring applications use, system performance and hardware/software reliability.
- Developing, revising and maintaining nursing policies and procedures that reflect informatics best practices in collaboration with other departments.
- Developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with end user departments to ensure optimal utilization of the Hospital's clinical applications, while providing appropriate levels of end user training and education.
